Vanguard yesterday. Minimalism today. Tomorrow Bach .

Does not matter when and by whom was recorded or that the sequence of notes . Has a value that is hidden behind these notes , these notes inside . You can play what came to mind at the moment, but you can - that was written by someone 300 years ago. Not important novelty and not the author's name , and the internal state of motivation and why I'm doing this , and I want to say , uttering these sounds .

I look at the music that says " Bach " ... I do not know how Bach wanted to hear it. Hardly we have the right in the 21st century to pretend that we know how to play Bach in " authentic " manner . Trying to recreate that style of game , which we 've never heard of using musicological research - it is self-deception. So I do not claim to historical authenticity . History - no more than one of the illusions . I want to , staying where I am - here and now - try to hear what has long been inapplicable in an endless stream of consumption and became a decorative background noise , gently rustling in the garbage disposal culture.

You can argue this was already made Glenn Gould . On the one hand - yes . But Gould died in 1982 , and during that time the world has changed .

Vanguard still sincerely considers itself a leader , not seeing that the train locomotive which he was once , a long time has already arrived at an impasse. Thanks minimalism we discovered the magic of timeless meditative states . Postmodernist approach radically changed our attitude to the fact that the author is . Modern culture - is an intellectual game , it is a puzzle consisting of quotations and stylizations . This game has its rules and its winners . We are in the last decade have become accustomed to when we hear something that sounds like old music - so it Nyman . Something oscillating minor third and undulating passages - this Glass. Something resembling a mixture of medieval polyphony with Bach - it Pдrt .

With regard to classical music , that the conveyor is still continue to operate. Artists take the stage in evening dress and musical instruments recovered from all of the same series of notes written by someone in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th , some unnatural simulating emotions. What do these emotions to modern life ? No . Are we now experience what people experienced in those days ? Can not . Can we breathe their air? Can not . And so we just play , without even thinking about what we do and why.

And the whole world has turned into one giant whirlpool consumption. Music eventually became the background . It sounds everywhere. Its no one notices . These vibrations in the air modern ear equates to silence. Thirty years ago, people sat at home and listened to records . Now people are so busy with many important cases that can not afford to spend an hour just sitting and listening to music. During this hour, you can simultaneously respond to dozens of email adresses , calls smsok , dine , chat in the chat, make a purchase from the online store , get news , see a stock ticker and weather , book flights ... Or , if you listen to in the car , you can drive in that time at least 60 kilometers ... We finally have forgotten how to concentrate. If Bach saw it all , but still it would show modern infomercial or a video clip where one plan lasts for a split second , he would have thought that he was in hell. And Gould would have thought that he was in an insane asylum .

And that's why I now want to play Bach , so that these sounds are not flashed by like flashes all that surrounds us. Each episode in the music of Bach is repeated twice , and each time I play in different tempos , with varying articulation , as if considering the same crystal with different sides , living one life in different ways. Rates mostly slow , but it's not the pace . Each sound arises spontaneously , as if it were an improvisation , takes on an entirely different expression, a different meaning , as the details of the image come to life under a magnifying glass . This meditative, concentrated state lives in his own non-linear time. Time - relative value . Not have to be Einstein or fly to distant stars , to be sure. Not have to be a Buddhist monk to realize that all our concepts are conditional and empty. Anyway , in Bach's music contains all our postmodernism , our entire minimalism, as well as jazz, rock and more.

Interestingly, the music of Bach's Partitas has little or no connection with the " dance " part names . Bach took the familiar form of the time - a suite of dances - and filled out this form completely different content. Partita in E minor - this is the most real passion , but without words. D major - the mystery of the Nativity. The most important thing in the music of Bach - is that every second of his life was a spiritual practice . Every note, every intonation, every interval or chord bear the main truth . I do not know if I can convey at least a small part of the Truth. Hardly. But I'll try .
