Natalia Zagorinskaya (Soprano)

Natalia Zagorinskaya was born in Moscow. Being seven years old she started to practice playing the piano in Central musical school at Moscow conservatory.

In 1984 she entered the vocal faculty of Moscow state conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovski, where she practiced vocal singing in prof. Vera Kudriavtseva’s class. After graduating she continued her studies as a post-graduate of Moscow conservatory.

In 1991 Natalia Zagorinskaya became a leading soloist of Moscow musical theatre “Helikon-Opera” under the leadership of Dmitry Bertman and performed the main female parts in the most of its productions, among which are Lisa in “The Queen of Spades”, Tatiana in “Eugene Onegin”, Katerina Izmailova in “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk”, Rosalinda in “Die Fliedermaus” and many other.

In 2001 she performed Alisa Ford in new Dmitry Bertman’s production of “Falstaff” by G. Verdi. In 2003 she performed as Emilia Marty in the Russian premiere of L. Janacek’s “Vec Makropoulos”. In 2004 she played part of Sister Blanche in brilliant Russian premiere of “Les Dialogues des Carmelites” by F. Poulenc in Dmitry Bertman’s production.

Natalia Zagorinskaya performed in the best concert halls of the world (direct translation from Radio Hall in Los-Angeles, Radio France Hall). In 1993 she participated in performing of Bach’s H-moll mess in Helsinki during the Christmas festival. During Edinburg festival of 1997 she performed the works of Luigi Nono with BBC Scottish symphonic orchestra.

Zagorinskaya often participates in “La batie” festival in Geneva, where she performed “The Wedding” by I. Stravinsky, “Les Pleurs” by Edison Denisov, “Terzina” by Castiglioni, “Tre Poemi” and “Commiato” by Luigi Dallapicola, “Messages de feu demoiselle Troussova” by Georgiy Kurtaga and “Chant apres chant” by Jean Barrack. In 1998 she sang “A Mirror on which to dwell” by Elliot Carter and “Improvisation sur Mallarme I/II” by Pierre Boulez with Nieuw Ensemble in Amsterdam and “Lulu” suite by Alban Berg with Gulbenkian orchestra in Lisbon. In 2002 she performed “Scиne d‘un roman” and “Requiem for the beloved” by Georgiy Kurtaga on stage of Victoria Hall in Geneva. She participated in performing of 14th symphony by Shostakovich with Symphonic radio orchestra in Saarbruecken (direct translation, 2004) and in Geneve in Victoria Hall (2005).

In 2006 Natalia Zagorinskaya successfully performed main parts in “Helikon-Opera” premieres: “Russalka” by A. Dvorak and “Siberia” by U. Giordano.

A laureate of “Golden Mask” Russian national theatre prize in “Best female part” (1998) nomination for performing Carmen in “Carmen” by J. Bizet.

Honoured Artist of Russia (1999). People’s Artist of Russia (2006).
