Anastasia Meskova (Dancer)

Biography

Born in Moscow. As a child, she wanted to be an actress. She danced in the V. Loktev Ensemble. She won theMorning Star children’s television competition which enabled her to tour extensively in Russia and abroad.
In 2002, having completed her training at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (Sofi Golovkina’s class), she joined the Bolshoi Theatre corps de ballet.

She has twice carried off prizes at ballet competitions: at the Fouette Artek International Competition of Classical Dance (2000), she was awarded the gold medal, and at the International Competition of Ballet Dancers (2001), in Vienna, she won the Grand Prix.
In her second year of work at the Bolshoi, she received a lead part — Juliet in Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet (produced by Decan Donnellan, choreography Radu Poklitaru, 2003).
She prepares all her repertoire under the guidance of Lyudmila Semenyaka.

Cinema


She has appeared in the following films: A. Zguridi and N. Kldiashvili’s Balerina (1993) as the little ballerina and in the lead in V. Grammatikov’s The Young Princess (1997), which won her the Big Gold medal at Moscow’s International Festival of Films for Children and Young People (1998) and the Golden OvenNational Prize awarded by Film Critics and the Film Press for best child’s role (1998). 

Tours

She has taken part several times in Gala Concerts, she appeared at the Serge Lifar Festival, Kiev (2001), as Suimbike (the lst guest performer of the role) in F. Yarullin’sShuraleh (choreography Leonid Jacobson) at the Tartar Musa Jalila State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet (2002), and also in the lead parts in Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Swan Lake and Giselle at several other theatres in Russia.
In 2003, she took part in a Gala Concert, held under the auspices of the Stars of the 21st Century project, at the Theatre des Champs Elysees, Paris (partner Dmitri Gudanov).
