As a child, he was presented with a guitar and an album of The Beatles, and it is - in his own words - determined the fate of "their music just grabbed my empty heart, I knew it was just what I needed." Lukater fanatically searching for any way to master the instrument and so good at it that he was in the student group, and then to a professional - "Toto", where he was invited by the famous Jeff Porcaro, and where he played a quarter-century.
 
Lukater established itself as a top-notch session musician, he has performed with such stars as Chet Atkins, Ringo Starr, George Benson, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Lee Ritenour, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Elton John and Michael Jackson . In 1989, after a tour with Jeff Beck, Simon Phillips and Carlos Santana, he released his first solo album, titled simply Lukather (the record was taught to many famous musicians, including Eddie Van Halen and Richard Marx), in 2001 - after joint tour with Larry Carlton - album No substitutions, won the Grammy in the category of "Best Instrumental Album".
 
Total Lukaterom recorded seven albums, which have never gone unnoticed with the public and critics. The guitarist began with a pop-rock, his solo projects tend to traditional hard rock, no stranger to it, and fusion. Despite the fact that the studio work takes time, Lukater likes to speak "live", believing that the only way you can really feel the guitar and make the most of her best.
