Yekaterina Shcherbachenko (Soprano)
Biography
Born in the town of Ryazan. In 1992-96 she studied at The Musical College in Ryazan, going to be a chorus conductor. In 2005, on completing her studies at the Moscow Conservatory (professor Marina Alekseeva‘s class), she joined the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theatre. At the Opera Studio of the Conservatory she performed Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Mimi (La Boheme) and at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre Lidochka (Dmitry Shostakovich‘s Moskva, Cheremuski) and Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte).
In 2004, she took part in the production of Moskva, Cheremuski in Opera National de Lyon (conductor Alexander Lazarev).
In 2005, she made her debut at the Bolshoi Theatre, where she participated in the production of Sergei Prokofiev‘s War and Peace performing the role of Natasha Rostova. After that premiere she received invitation to join the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company.

Tours
In 2004, she took part in the production of Moskva, Cheremuski in Opera National de Lyon (conductor Alexander Lazarev). In 2007, she sang the soprano part in Rakhmaninov’s Bells in Denmark (Danish National Symphony Orchestra, conductor Alexander Vedernikov). In 2008, she sang Tatiana in Teatro Lirico di Cagliari (conductor Mikhail Jurowski, directors Patrice Caurier and Moshe Leiser). In 2011, she performed the role of Liu at La Scala (conductor Valery Gergiev, director Giorgio Barberio Corsetti) and at the Bavarian State Opera (conductor Zubin Mehta, director Carlos Padrissa). In 2012, she appeared at Teatro Real Madrid as Iolanta (conductor Teodor Currentzis, director Peter Sellars); and as Tatiana at the Bavarian State Opera. She took part in the Glyndebourne festival, singing the role of Mimi (conductor Kirill Karabits, director David McVicar).
Awards
Diploma of the 10 th International Opera Competition “Neue Stimmen-2003” in Gutersloh (Germany). The 3rd Prize winner of the 4th Shizuoka International Opera Competition (Japan, 2005). The 3rd Prize winnier and Extraordinary price as “Millor interpret de Musica Russa” and Premi l’associacio Agimus (Catania) and Premi “Amics de l’Opera de Sabadell” of the XLIII International singing contest Francisco Vinas (Spain, 2006). Winner of the “BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2009” Competition.
